Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts

Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts provides higher professional education on bachelor’s and master’s degree level in the field of performing arts and art education. We offer authentic experiences in correlation with the professional practice, leaving room for personal choices.Our aim is to train our students to be skilled, self-confident and enterprising professionals.

We develop

We develop creative talent. We offer our students all possibilities to excel in the art discipline for which they have a great passion. We give our students all chances to further explore and develop their talent. The academies, each with their own identity, have the professional knowledge and skills to achieve this. The total of these academies is more than the sum of the individual academies.

We think

We think that in the current social climate a student must have the courage to cross borders. With eight academies under one roof, we can challenge students to have a look at other disciplines, to inspire one another, and to cooperate. Art and culture form an important part of society. We therefore consider it our task to have a close bond with society by training our students as performers, makers or teachers.

We create

We create a tempting place where students, teachers and coworkers look out for one another, a learning environment with ambitious students who are always occupied with the love for the profession. This creates a special atmosphere at our school: you will find a student drawing in the passage way, classical music is coming from a window, someone is playing the guitar in a corner, and in the Garden of the Muses students are rehearsing their own choreography. This is exactly what we want to achieve: create an inspiring learning environment where students feel at home and can get the best out of themselves.

We expect

We expect our students to excel in their own discipline and to be able to apply their skills within other art disciplines. We have the possibilities to actively contribute to this. With a view to a changing professional practice, we offer our students both an in-depth and broad programme in which excelling in one’s personal discipline, crossing borders and entrepreneurship are central.
