Academy of Architecture and Urbanism
The Academy of Architecture and Urbanism (in Dutch 'Academie voor Architectuur en Stedenbouw', AAS) is one of the six academies for architecture in the Netherlands where you can follow a part-time master’s degree programme in architecture or town planning.

The intensive programme focuses on designers who want and are able to distinguish themselves in designing, planning and making the built-up environment.
The architect is a spatial designer. It is a profession in which personal ideas mean something, and where these ideas can be translated into a permanent physical or cultural contribution to social development. Architects often design more than buildings; their work may vary from a miniature to a megastructure,
from a stamp to a metropolis.
The urban engineer is the environmental and functional designer of town and region. He distils an integral plan from, often contradictory, programmes, interests and disciplines. He designs the layout and the public spaces, or he formulates rules for the design and the development of areas. He takes the complete picture as his point of departure. His work is realised within a political-social process, for after all he gets his commissions from society..
