Stadslab involved in Tbilisi 'New City' project

9th January

Tbilisi City Architect Mr Arisi Bochoidze requested the expertise of Stadslab to develop a Master Plan for the Tbilisi 'New City', a 240 hectare city expansion project to accommodate a mixed program of embassies, ministries, retail and residential program and leisure facilities for the capital city of Georgia. Stadslab has previously organized an international Master Class program for Georgia's Black Sea coastal cities Batumi, Kobuleti and Poti.

For Tbilisi we propose an international expert-meeting to develop an integrated strategy  for spatial planning, offering new opportunities for business developments, housing and quality of life. This strategy should result in a process which not only includes a vision for the ‘New City’ in the next decades, eventually leading to Master planning and project realization but also planning regulations and policies. Also it will be the first step to realize a general approach to attract the necessary investments to the city. These investments are not only subjected to the field of real estate like strategic infrastructure, industrial facilities and parts of cities. Investments in the social and economic infrastructure are equally necessary to provide the basis for future growth and an attractive livable city.

The city has installed an internal expert team to prepare the Master Planning procedures.
